Flex Tree Saddles
Flex Tree Saddles
The SimFlex tree is one unit molded from a structural elastomer (a strong, non-porous flexible material with many other uses: i.e., mower seats, boot soles, snow skis, etc). The flexing of the tree allows more freedom of movement for the horse. Swell and cantle piece made of fiberglass covered wood. Tree weighs only 7 lbs (2 - 7 lbs lighter than other trees in use today). Made in USA and tested for safety and durability. :
Flex Tree Saddles
The challenge creating a Flexible Saddle Tree was twofold. The first was a flexible tree bar that would conform to the horse's back. Experimenting with several different materials, this was achieved by bonding high density polyethylene plastic and leather together to give a flexibility while retaining structural integrity. The next challenge was the saddle seat. We had a Flex Saddles that would bend and flex, but what would bring it back to its original position? A typical saddle seat is created by taking a preformed seat, or strainer, usually made of metal or fiberglass, and installing it onto the saddle tree. The material for this seat had to be flexible, have Shape-Holding Characteristics for the seat's foundation, and memory to bring the saddle back to it's original position. The answer came in the form of heat tempered spring steel in our flex saddles.
Building a saddle with a flexible bar that can adjust to the confirmation of the animal significantly widens the range of animals that will fit any particular tree design. Perhaps an even greater benefit to a flexible tree is the fact that the tree will move with the horse instead of against it. When a horse turns or bends his body the tree will "get out of the way" of the animal's shoulders and hips. Whether riding for pleasure or in competitive events the Flex tree will adapt to a Wide Range of Motions.
Endurance Riding is one of the newest and perhaps the fastest growing branch of equestrianism. Although organised endurance rides were held in the US as early as the mid- 1800s, the modern sport of endurance riding really began in the in 1955 when the Tevis Cup, a one day 100 mile ride from Squaw Valley, Nevada to Auburn California, was first run. Other rides followed and the first national endurance riding association, the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC) was founded in 1972.
